Downtown Coeur d’Alene is a beautiful site to visit at any time of year, but it is especially lively around the Christmas holidays. The city of Coeur d’Alene goes all out for the holiday season on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a stunning illumination display. Hundreds of holiday lights are used to represent a variety of scenes, including a dragon, an underwater castle, and, of course, Santa Clause and all of his reindeer, around the whole Coeur d’Alene Resort, as well as the nearby floating promenade and surrounding area.
Lastly, the holiday extravaganza kicks off with a fireworks show and musical performances before the first Christmas lights of the season are turned on.
Consider taking a trip on Lake Coeur d’Alene if you have visiting family in town or if you want to experience the show in a different environment than you would normally see it. Aside from the stunning scenery, delectable cuisine, and hot beverages, the tour is the most effective way to witness the Northern Lights in their natural habitat. The boat will be a big hit with the kids, and the rest of the family will appreciate the opportunity to spend quality time together on the water.
Depending on how late you wait in the season, you may even be able to take your children to see Santa Claus at the North Pole! In order to reach the mansion, guests must first take a boat and go across the lake. There, they will be met by Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as the elves, who will wave as they pass by. Your child may receive a special note from Santa and learn whether or not they have been included on the “nice list” this year.
