Coeur d’Alene Downtown Travel Guide – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

CDA is the abbreviation for Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where I was born and reared. My father and mother both attended Coeur d’Alene High School, just like I did. My grandfather constructed one of the first convenience stores in town on Sherman Avenue, which serves as the town’s major thoroughfare, as well as one of the town’s earliest churches. My family has strong ties to this small town, and I consider it to have been a wonderful place to raise my children.

In my small corner of the internet, I enjoy writing about my hometown and sharing it with others who have never been there themselves. Today I’m sharing a Coeur d’Alene travel guide with you, in which I’ll go over everything you need to know about spending the perfect vacation in downtown Coeur d’Alene. Enjoy!

Where Can I Stay Close to Downtown?

The Coeur d’Alene Resort is a place to relax and unwind.

First and foremost, where will you be staying throughout your visit? This is a no-brainer in my opinion. When it comes to accommodations, there is really only one excellent choice: the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The Coeur d’Alene Resort is the crown jewel of Coeur d’Alene’s downtown district. Your stay will include wonderful views of Coeur d’Alene Lake, as well as an unparalleled location—you will be in the heart of everything important in the downtown area, thanks to the hotel’s waterfront location.

The resort has recently completed a three-year renovation project that began in 2011. Comfortable mattresses, contemporary designs, and elegant furniture items can be found in each of the resort’s rooms currently. They’ve stepped up their technological game by providing high-definition television screens as well as charging stations for all of your devices. There are gas fireplaces and draperies that can be operated from a distance. They’ve made significant adjustments over the previous situation in order to provide a comfortable and memorable stay for all of their guests. Here’s where you may reserve a room.

When I visit, I like to dine at the resort’s fun restaurants, which are always a treat. Beverly’s is a wonderful choice for a fine-dining experience for a special occasion, and don’t miss the enormous sweets at Dockside, which are referred to as “Gooey’s.” The ice cream sundaes are Instagram-worthy, but the huckleberry cobbler is also a favorite of mine. The Whispers Bar is a great spot for late-night beverages and small plates. Don’t forget to stop in at one of the shops for some gifts, such as huckleberry jam from the area or a t-shirt from Coeur d’Alene.

Additionally, in addition to the indoor pool at the resort, which is open to all resort guests, there is an outdoor pool option that may be upgraded for a modest additional price. In addition to the golf course, the outdoor pool is located a few miles east of the lake on the shore of Lake Michigan. During the boating season, you can take a complimentary ride on the resort’s boat, which docks at the boardwalk (just below Whispers Bar) and transports you to this area where you can enjoy the pool or play golf. When you’re finished, the boat will transport you right back to the boardwalk, where you began your journey. This allows them to convert the pool into a huge hot tub ideal for the colder weather. They also provide a free round-trip shuttle service from the resort during this time period. Additionally, while you’re there, take advantage of the Floating Green at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, as well as the Floating Green Restaurant for cocktails and a stunning view (I’d avoid the meal because there are better options available, but it’ll do in a pinch.)

The Roosevelt Inn is a historic hotel in Washington, D.C.

If you are unable to stay at the resort, there is another option available to you. The Roosevelt Inn is a lovely bed and breakfast that is conveniently located near downtown Coeur d’Alene. (It takes around 2 minutes to drive or 7 minutes to walk to the downtown area.) Formerly a schoolhouse, it was originally constructed in 1905 and is in operation today, making it the oldest schoolhouse still surviving in the area. In addition to being a beautiful old building, it also has modern conveniences to fulfill your current needs. Every room is named after a former teacher who taught at the school or after a significant individual who had an impact on the school in some way. Some of the rooms provide a view of Lake Coeur d’Alene. Pets are welcome in some of the rooms. An amuse-bouche with a glass of rose will be served upon arrival, followed by an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet in the morning followed by a wine tasting with cheese and baked goods in the afternoon. It’s a fun option to consider further. Here’s where you may reserve a room.

CDA has a variety of Airbnb options.

Our favorite way to travel is to stay at Airbnbs all around the country and even worldwide. In my opinion, it’s a wonderful approach to get a feel for what life might be like in the place from a local’s point of view while also learning about the culture. Coeur d’Alene features a number of excellent Airbnb alternatives that are conveniently located near the downtown area and are totally walkable. I’d like to share with you a couple of my personal favorites.

This would be an excellent choice for families with many children. It is a three-bedroom, four-bath home that can accommodate up to seven people. It is very stunning on the inside. The location is the most appealing feature. Sanders Beach, Tubbs Hill, and McEuen Park are all within walking distance. Pets are welcome at the hotel. There is a washing and dryer in the apartment. When visiting Coeur d’Alene, it’s possible that this property will be the ideal fit for your family.

If you’re traveling with a large party, this is a great option. It is within walking distance to the Coeur d’Alene City Park and beach, which is only a two-minute walk away. The interior of this house, which sleeps ten people, is warm and pleasant. It is equipped with a washer and dryer. It is situated in a peaceful neighborhood, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day of touring downtown.

This would be an excellent choice for a smaller group of people. It is a newly renovated flat on the third floor of a building. It is in an ideal location, just next to Sherman Avenue, which is the hub of activity in the neighborhood. It takes no more than 5 minutes to walk to all of the greatest restaurants and coffee shops in the city center. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it can accommodate four people.

Restaurants in the heart of downtown CDA?

Hudson’s Hamburgers is a good budget-friendly (and classic) option.

We’ve arrived at the most important aspect of your trip to Coeur d’Alene: the FOOD! Visit my other Coeur d’Alene blog posts for a comprehensive list of the area’s best dining establishments, such as The Best CDA Restaurants, and posts on The Best CDA Coffee, and posts on The Best CDA Brunch, among other topics.

Hudson’s Hamburgers, located in downtown Coeur d’Alene, is my top pick for a low-cost dining alternative. It has been in operation since 1907. They continue to prepare their burgers in the same manner as they have for years. They don’t want to tamper with something that’s working. If you’re going to Hudson’s, I’d recommend dining in. Order a “single cheese with everything on it,” which is a single cheese with everything on it. Essentially, a single-patty cheeseburger with house-made pickles and onions is what you’ll get. If you’re still hungry after that, simply ask for another! In-restaurant dining will provide you with the entire Hudson’s experience, including sitting at the bar and watching them flip burgers while listening to the conversation of the locals, and drizzling on some fiery ketchup and mustard (which you must try! ). Getting food to go just isn’t the same, although we’ve done it on occasion when we’d rather eat in a local park instead of at the restaurant. However, don’t come here expecting fries because they don’t serve them! More information can be found here.
